Why do movies suck these days?

I know there's the occasional good one, but just...good. Everything's completely clless, violent (yawn), or just gross. I really have been wanting to see a good scary movie lately, but everything lately is just sick...and not suspenseful. And as for everything else, cuteness overrides sincererity. What's up with Hollywood?
